Polyvinylchloride (Suspension PVC)
Polyvinylchloride (PVC) — rather rigid polymeric material. For increase in elasticity and frost resistance of polyvinylchloride enter softeners into it.
On the basis of polyvinylchloride by thermal plasticization receive flexible soft materials — the plastic compounds going for production of cable isolation, raincoats, footwear, and also the polyvinylchloride pastes applied in production of the washing wall-paper, linoleum, an oilcloth and the materials imitating skin. Thermal plastication of the polyvinylchloride which is not containing softeners receive rigid materials of generally constructional and anticorrosive appointment (sheet viniplast, plastic pipes, profiles and other products).
Polyvinylchloride has rather high chemical resistance to effect of acids, alkalis and lubricant oils. But at the same time it possesses the whole list of characteristic shortcomings for complex polymers: small resistance to action of warmth and light. Sharp decrease in durability at temperature increase, and also the hlado-fluidity inherent in it under the influence of long action of loading limit its application, despite high rates of mechanical durability at a normal temperature
Suspension PVC has rather narrow molecular-mass distribution, small degree of branching, higher degree of purity, low water absorption, good dielectric properties, the best thermal stability and light resistance.
PVC is applied in medicine and by production of a medical insturment, the equipment and stock. A push to broad use of PVC in this area the pressing need began to replace rubber and glass with previously sterilized objects disposable (and not only) uses. Over time PVC became the most popular polymer in medicine thanks to chemical stability and inertness. Production from it is extremely various and easily made. Medical products from PVC can be used in a human body, will easily be sterilized, do not burst and do not proceed.
PVC of a plate is widely used as material for production of motor transport. In automotive industry of PVC it is used for production of coverings, the condensing materials, cable isolation, finishing of salon, instrument and door panels, armrests, etc. Use in automotive industry of polymers in general and PVC in particular leads to decrease in expenses of fuel. As polymers weigh less – without prejudice to quality of the car its weight, and, therefore, and the amount of fuel necessary for operation of the engine is lost.
From all polymers the broadest application in construction has sheets PVC. The main qualities of PVC in construction: wear resistance, mechanical durability, rigidity, small weight, resistance to corrosion, chemical, weather and temperature influence.
PVC does not install electrical equipment and, thus, is ideal as insulating material.
